Numberdale Play free

Math your kid actually wants to play.

Orb Spirits is a creature-collecting adventure where every move is real math. Build numbers, break shields, make friends. Grades 3 to 5.

No sign-up. No ads. Plays in any computer or tablet browser.

A short clip of Orb Spirits: a child drags glowing orbs into the tray, ten orbs fuse into a crystal, the beam breaks the monster's shield and Mossy joins the team.

How it works

The math is the game.

Not a quiz in front of a game. Every move your child makes is a math move.

  1. Build the number.

Drag glowing orbs, crystals and gems into the tray. Ten orbs fuse into a crystal; hold a crystal to break it back into ten. Place value, right in their hands.

The tray holds a ten crystal and five orbs while a fox holds up a shield with 25 on it.
  2. Break the shield.

Every grumpy monster holds a shield: a number, a picture, a clock or a story problem. Match it exactly and it shatters. Too much bounces back.

A monster's shield shows a clock face; the tray has Hours, Fives and Minutes columns.
  3. Make a friend.

Beaten monsters become friends with new powers: copying groups, doubling beams, splitting moons. 80+ spirits to collect, evolve and visit in the Spirit Grove.

The Spirit Grove: a glowing lantern tree with a dozen spirit friends wandering around it.

Our story

I built Orb Spirits for my 8-year-old daughter. She loved creature games and didn't love math worksheets, so I made the math the thing you do to play. Every level has been playtested at our kitchen table, and she still asks for one more.

FAQ

Questions parents ask

What ages is it for?

Kids 7 to 11, grades 3 to 5. Younger kids who are strong at math enjoy Book 1 too.

Does my child need to read well?

No. Every line is spoken aloud, and the tutorial shows each step with a pointing hand.

What devices does it run on?

Today, any modern browser on a computer or tablet. Apps for iPad, iPhone and Android are coming.

What data do you collect?

Nothing personal from children. The browser version sends anonymous counts (like "level won") with no cookies and no identifiers, so we can see where it gets hard. Progress is saved on your device.

Can teachers use it in class?

Yes, the free browser version works in any classroom browser. Classroom features are on our list; write to us.

How is it different from other math apps?

Most put a quiz in front of a game. In Orb Spirits the math is the game: you win by building the right number, not by answering a question to earn a turn.
